Wherever possible, we source our products directly from artisans, independent makers and specialist workshops. We seek to build respectful, long-term relationships with the people who create the pieces we offer.
At Yaden Africa, we believe that an exceptional handmade object is more than something beautiful. It carries the knowledge of the person who made it, the materials of the place from which it came and, in many cases, techniques that have been transmitted through generations.
Our approach prioritises craftsmanship over mass production and seeks to maintain a sourcing chain that is as close and transparent as possible between the maker and the customer. Where reasonably possible, we seek to understand where an item was made and who made it, while describing cultural connections accurately and respectfully.
The people behind the products are central to Yaden Africa. We want customers to understand the human craftsmanship behind their purchase—the hands, knowledge, patience and creativity required to transform raw materials into something exceptional.
